Inventory History

This document explains why you can't get an inventory history if you have not already performed several steps and used the software in specific ways. This is an explanation of why you can't do it any other method.

You must use the Report Inventory Values, or the Product Sales report, for the day that you want to get a value of the inventory. Product Sales however, will only give you the inventory of the items you have sold. So you will want to enable Inventory Values report if you need to look at this periodically. You could never reproduce the same report, for that time you printed, so it must performed for the date you require (on that same date). You can also do snap shot reports from the Inventory Reconciliation section. You can also enable daily reconciliation, for inventory counts.

If you need some information, and you didn't enable these features, you can come close, but not absolutely.

Each transaction saves quite a bit of information of the product at the time it was sold.

For example, a line item has this information:

Product Name
Serial Number (barcode)
Quantity Sold
TraceCount
Order Date

In this instance, we don't have the category, but we can get that by some other methods. We have the amount sold, which doesn't help us but is there for helping you understand what's going on. We also have the TraceCount. The trace count is the current inventory you had at that moment before you sold this item. That value, when used in conjunction with the date, gives you a value of the inventory for that item at that date.

So if you wanted to look at all items sold between a date range, we could potentially say:
From 01/01/2018 to 01/30/2018
Select the Last Distinct Item ( this means you look at the last item of bubba kush sold (not all of them in that date range)) and get the Trace Count.
And this process would repeat for all items sold during that date range.

Now, the issue with this is, if you don't sell an item during that time, you don't have a value for inventory during that time, unless you just use what is currently shown in inventory.
That, of course, would be wrong, because there is no field that indicates when an inventory item is first added to your system, (if that were the case we would restrict the items it could show)
However, this would lead to all other kinds of minor discrepancies.
