Item Sizes for Point of Sale Menus

Sizes and units of measure are used to display sizes for items with separate pricing and calculate inventory usage. This would apply most often to drinks, but is also very helpful for pizzas and items that have different prices under different circumstances, or sandwiches that are half whole, etc.

While using the register, sizes and units appear after pressing the menu item. However if there is only one size, the item is automatically entered. In the example below, the sizes for coffee are large, small, refill and small refill.

After you enter these items in the special features section of the menu layout screen, check the check box “Combo Items (Adds Bar Tax)” for each item that as this feature.

If selected this option when used under the service type “Bar” will include the tax as the total of the item rather then showing the tax after the subtotal on the tickets. Also, the tax will be stored separately to show on a sales tax report for alcohol.

For items that have a default modifier price, check the Combo Pricing in the menu layout for the selected item.

For the prices, assign a first price of the item when it is sold by itself. In the edit pricing option select the first line as a “Product” For the second price, or even third price, select “Default Modifier”, and “Modifier.” When using the Forced Modifiers, the default modifier will automatically come up as the price for the additional cost.

Input a main unit, then input the unit of measure that will be used in the store. For example, input a Case of Beer with a multiplier of 24.
