Heads Up Washington State!
Applicants will be announced on May 2nd.
All retail marijuana license applicants who successfully completed the pre-screening process will be eligible for the lottery.
Washington State’s December deadline for a recreational marijuana license, had an overwhelming response of 2,100 retail applications. Out of that number around 1,000 applicants passed the pre-screening process and are enrolled in the retail license lottery.
The WSLCB will issue 334 recreational cannabis licenses. The lottery will be held April 21st- 25th and winners will be notified May 1st and results made public May 2nd.
All eligible applicants will be drawn in the lottery and assigned a rank order. So if you don’t get ranked 1 through 334, you may still have a chance at getting your license.
For example, if a selected applicant is ineligible for a license the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) will move onto the next applicant on the lottery list.
Once applications are processed the WSLCB expects to begin issuing retail licenses no later than the first week in July.
